To All Middle School Students: Registration is now open for the 2011 Fall Golf Team. This team is

open to 6^th-8^th grade girls & boys. The season will begin on September 28^th and end November 9th. Golf practice will take place at the school on Mondays. Our home course is Lake Ridge Park Golf Course we will play there Wednesdays. Practice at Porter and Golfing at Lake Ridge will run from 3:30-5:00pm. Certain days at Lake Ridge may run closer to 5:30 if the weather is nice and we need to get a little more work in. The cost to participate is $100 for new golfers, $90 for returning golfers. Equipment is provided for those who do not own. Anyone with their own clubs, balls, tees, pull carts, bags, etc. is encouraged to bring them. New golfers will receive a golf polo shirt with their registration fee. If you have golfed before and need a new shirt, they are $10. A physical is not required, although those wishing to participate in other sports this year should go ahead and get one. No experience is required to play golf. Some students will come out with many years of experience and many others will have never played before…this team is open to all skill levels.

 

New this year, PWC is requiring all Middle and High School students (intending on participating in an athletic activity) and their parents to attend a mandatory Concussion training session. The concussion training is 45min in length and must be completed prior to trying out or participating in their activity. 

 

Forms may be printed from the box below & need to be turned in by Friday Sept. 23rd.

Bus transportation will be provided to Lake Ridge. Parents are expected to pick their student(s) up promptly at 5:00pm. Below is the tentative schedule:

 

 

 

Financial Assistance - Families who feel they are in financial need and cannot afford the cost of this program may submit a letter to the Principal requesting financial assistance. The requests will be reviewed on a case-by case basis by the principal.

Mandatory Concussion Training for ALL PWCS Athletes and Parents

All PWCS High Schools and Middle Schools are in the process of scheduling Concussion Presentations for parents and students according to PWCS Policy 759.  Please check individual school websites periodically for updated sessions and times.

As there are sufficient differences in the way concussion will be handled at the middle school and high school levels, a parent having children in both middle and high schools, will need to attend both presentations.

The meeting is mandatory for ALL students and their parents who will be trying out and/or playing any sport (Porter Intramurals or Travel Team) during the 2011-12 school year.  

A Porter student cannot try-out for or participate in a sport unless they, along with a parent, attend one of the information sessions.  Your student will also need an up to date physical in order to try-out for a Travel Sports Team at Porter.  

All the PWC Middle Schools will hold the mandatory concussion trainings. You are welcome to attend the meeting at any location.

More dates will be available for the winter and spring seasons, but it is recommended you attend a class at your earliest convenience!

Sports Physicals

In addition to Intramural Sports (no Sports Physical required), Porter sometimes offers a travel team tryout for Middle School Boys Soccer, Boys Baseball, Girls Volleyball, and Boys & Girls Basketball.  If you think your child might want to tryout for one of these sports, please get a Sports Physical on file with Mrs. Misencik at your earliest convenience.  Just like other Middle Schools, players are not allowed to tryout unless a sports physical is on file.  Sport Physicals are only good for one school year.  If you got one is the spring, it is good from May 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. 

A Sports Physical is not needed for Flag Football since it is an in-house Intramural sporting opportunity.
